Metella Road Out Of School Hours Child Care Inc
Metella Road Out of School Hour’s Child Care operates within the grounds of Metella Road Public School. The centre was started in March 1988 catering for a small number of children in the afternoons. Soon after before school care was included and then in October 2004 Vacation Care commenced.
Metella Road Out Of School Hours Child Care Inc. is a community based centre that recognise the importance of shared management and parental involvement.
The centre is open between the hours of 6.30am to 8.30am and 3pm to 6pm during the school term. Children are signed out of the centre at 8.30am allowing them to join friends and participate in before school activities. The school play ground is supervised from 8.30am.
Vacation Care is offered between 6.30am to 6pm each day during the school holidays and pupil free days.
The centre is CLOSED on public holidays.
The centre is presently approved to cater for 60 children in Before School Care, 88 children in After School Care and 45 children in for Vacation Care.
Our Philosophy
Metella Road out of School Hours Child Care aims to provide opportunities for all people to grow in body, mind and spirit. It also aims to provide a quality School Aged Care program.
The centre aims are.
- To provide a professional service that meets the needs of our school community.
- To provide a safe, secure and child friendly environment for the children who attend the centre.
- To provide opportunities for children to develop new skills such as arts and crafts, outdoor / indoor games and activities.
- To promote and encourage positive interaction between children, parents and staff.
- To provide balanced and nutritious snacks.
- To provide parents with information and access to other services as required.
- A belief that it is essential for children’s services to work in partnership with families to provide professional and high quality care.
- A belief that it is essential for staff to provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment that offers encouragement, support, understanding, acceptance, sensitivity and responsiveness to the needs of each individual child.
- A belief that all children are unique and value them as individuals. We recognise and acknowledge the diversity of families within the school community.
Centre Policies are comprehensive and are based on the accreditation system introduced by the National Child Care Accreditation Council. (NCAC) Centre policies are available at the centre. The centre is currently accredited with the NCAC and will be submitting a new self study report in January 2010.
Metella Road Out of School Hours Child Care encourages a process of input by children and parents towards the programs and experiences offered to children.
