Support Programs
ESL
English as a second language is a program aimed at helping to develop the language skills of children who come from homes where English is not he first language. The ESL teacher supports the children in the classroom during literacy sessions and withdraws individual and small groups for more intensive work.
Reading Recovery
Reading Recovery is a program that has been developed which targets students in Year One with reading difficulties. It enables the student to receive one on one attention and is an intensive program that the student participate in for up to 20 weeks.
Playground Peer Support
This is a program where every student in year 5 are rostered on at lunch time to support K-2 children in the playground. Year 5 students organise engaging activities like putt putt golf, obstacle courses, ball games and blackboard drawing.
Peer Mediation
This is a program where every student in year 6 are trained as peer mediators. They take turns to help K-2 children in the playground. Peer mediation is about improving friendships by helping the students make better choices that every one is happy with.
